Ask a Question
Am I liable for another’s car accident?
An friend of mine borrowed my car while I was away for a few days. They totaled the vehicle while driving drunk and damaged public property. My insurance had ran out the week before, unbeknownst to me . We came to a verbal agreement that she would pay me for the vehicle and that she would pay for the property damage. Now I am receiving bills addressed to me and the driver for the amount owed for the damage to property. The driver has since vanished and discontinued contact with me. Am I liable? Can I sue? What do I do?
